An awesome time was to be had at our annual Christmas in Dixie party this year. Confederate Santa couldn't make it so Marty Claus made an appearance in his stead to give the kids gifts and candy. We presented our favorite restaurant and our host location with a cake for taking such good care of us every month. Merry Christmas everyone! The Rankin Greys will see you again after the new year!!
November was a meeting for the record books. We had the national CIC Paul Gramling, Lt CIC Larry McCluney, Historian in Chief Todd Owens, AOT Commander Jason Boshers, a newly minted ensign to the CIC (our own Ryan Griffin), and the national Sergeant at Arms (also our own Billy Bryant) in attendance along with the Mississippi Division Commander Jeff Barnes and Lt Commander Conor Bond. Certificates were given to Ryan Griffin for his ensign promotion and to Billy Bryant for his Sergeant at Arms promotion. Makenah Cox was presented with a coloring book and a confederate teddy bear. Commander Gramling was also made an associate member of the camp, and we welcome to our ranks our newest member Jonathan Weeks!
We had a full house for the October meeting. We had several visitors from Camp 265 and others. Andy Stewart, running for Circuit judge, gave a few words before having to cut out to another event. Tim Cupit from Camp 265 in Brandon spoke about the upcoming Division Reunion his camp is hosting in 2019 during the annual relic show in Brandon and also gave a very interesting presentation about the characteristics of a successful SCV camp. Conor gave a rundown on the latest EC meeting, and the OCR president Kelly Griffin welcomed in a new member to the Grey Roses. We also welcomed past member John Douglas and his family back into the camp! It was a great meeting, indeed.
