It's been a while since our last post. All is going well and our progress can be followed more closely on our Facebook and MeWe pages. We are also streaming our meetings now, so keep an eye on those Facebook pages for live videos!
We had a fantastic April meeting. We really enjoyed our speaker Ms. Donna Barron. She gave an outstanding presentation on her father, the principal carver of Stone Mountain. We had our annual candlelight memorial in honor of Confederate Heritage Month and we also remembered our past members who are no longer with us. Welcome new members David Summerlin, Shane Smith, and Vince McMinn to our brotherhood. Chris Bryant was the recipient of the Chuck Bond Heritage Defense Award. Our camp cook team received some cooking apparel at the close of the meeting. A good time was had.

Commander Billy Bryant Our camp had a fantastic meeting last night, close to 80 people in attendance. Next month will be 5 years ago we chartered our camp with 7 members. We now are at 70. In those 5 years we have raised thousands of dollars for local organizations ranging from nursing home patients, Wounded Warriors of MS shelters for domestic violence victims, kids with muscular dystrophy, kids with pediatric cancer, families that lost everything in fires, numerous Law enforcement departments and the list goes on and on. We have had the last 3 Commander in Chiefs visit along with numerous other Officers on the National level. We are one of, if not the most active camp in our organization. I personally want to thank the men and women that have made our camp a success and all our camps followers.
Last night we presented 6 new camp members their certificates, swore in 2 new Central Squad members and gave the Mechanized Cavalry oath to 8 central squad men. We could not do these things without the support of our members, friends and family. Thank you all and may God continue to bless you and our camp. We are going to do Christmas for Briarhill Nursing home patients again this year. With the Covid19 restrictions in place we will not be able to have our Bingo party with them. I have been in contact with them several times and as of right now, all we will be able to do is fix them up a Christmas bag with personal care items in them for each patient. I am in the process of getting first names and sizes for each one of the 60 residents there. This year has been especially hard on them since they have not been able to have visitors most of the year. We will need help with this via monetary donations and personal care items we know will work regardless gender. We accept PayPal, Facebook pay or feel free to mail us a donation. Some of these patients have no family and are placed there by the State and get little to nothing throughout the year so with your help, let's make this a great Christmas, it may be the last one for some. Thank you all. God bless and keep you and yours safe.
Camp Commander, Billy Bryant Things are getting back to normal finally. We were able to have a real meeting outside of Zoom. We welcomed in Robby Moudy with his new certificate, Jonathan Keyes, Vince Windham, and Cody Adams made application, and Bruce Warren and his nephew Ethan transferred in from Forest. Welcome to everyone! John Evans was promoted to color sergeant and Glenn Hayes accepted the position of Editor. I'm sure we'll see new issues of the Grey Matter soon! Also, Ryan Atkinson celebrated his birthday at the end of the meeting!
